Kristina Barta is a Czech composer and pianist. After studying classical music and composition at the Prague Conservatory, she graduated from the Academy of Music Arts in Prague, specialising in jazz piano. She has won some international competitions: Krokus Jazz Festiwal 2017 in Poland, OSA composer's competition, Jazz Prix 2015, Euroradio Jazz Competition 2016.
EMA 29, her debut album was released in 2017 on the Austrian label Alessa Records in cooperation with the Austrian promoter Peter Guschelbauer and the American vibraphonist David Friedman.
Kristina Barta works with many musicians and performs in many well-known venues: Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), Bimhuis Hall (NL), Radio France (F), Budapest Jazz Club (HU), Strasbourg's Jazzdor (F), D'Jazz Nevers (F), A-Trane (D) and others.
Kristina Barta Quartet plays original contemporary creative jazz, reflecting her earlier classical music studies with an emphasis on melodies and emotions. The female element with a strong men’s band always promises an interesting interaction from all the musicians:
